College Coaches Talk About RecruitingHead Coach Linda Wells, Arizona State University Softball
Head Coach Dan Powers, Seattle University Softball "Stats are nice for our media guide but I pay more attention to how a player performs. Stats can be misleading if the competition isn't at a high level. I like to watch good teams play each other so I can get a more accurate assessment of a players abilities. I like my recruits to be good athletes first and foremost because I like my players to be able to play multiple positions. We focus on the players that recruit us. Recruiting at the big exposure tournaments can be time consuming when they are spread out over different venues. I make a priority list consisting of players we have been in contact with and we focus our evaluations on those specific players based on our current recruiting needs and their academic profile." If I don't get a softball scholarship, where else can I get money for college? |
