It’s finally here. The newest addition to the mega-popular lineup of high-end fastpitch bats, the Louisville Slugger LXT 2022. The new LXT has a lot of technologies that have been around for a while in the Louisville Slugger LXT models and a great connection piece.
The design and colorway have dramatically changed compared to the 2019 and 2021 models, which were similar looking. This time the LXT has a fiery-looking design that will surely stand out.
But, does it perform better than the 2021 model, and is it a worthy upgrade? Is it suitable for all types of players?
Let’s find out.
Features and construction
The new 2022 Louisville Slugger LXT is a two-piece composite bat, like the rest of the LXT models throughout the years. Since speed is the name of the game with the LXT, the new one has a PBF Technology Speed Composite Barrel, a lighter barrel that would also improve your speed performance. That barrel technology also takes care of the sweet spot, making it bigger, which is a huge plus when it comes to performance.
The folks over at Louisville Slugger made the new LXT have more pop than the previous one, and we applaud them for that. The 2022 LXT shares the same connection piece as the previous one, the great VCX2 Vibration Connection System, a fan-favorite connection piece that makes you feel fewer vibrations on mishits.
The end cap is the popular COPA Performance End Cap, so not a lot of things have changed there, and that is not a bad thing. The COPA Performance End Cap does what it’s supposed to do, and that is to make the performance of the LXT’s sweet spot better.
The 2022 LXT has the same Premium LS Pro Comfort Grip that the older model has and that we can also see on the new Louisville Slugger Meta. The cushion and feel are there, so you can get more from your swings.

Performance
The LXT is another name for speed and the new justifies that. It has a balanced swing weight so it can be used by both contact hitters and power hitters, but the power hitters should probably go for drops -8 and -9.
Sound is amazing on the LXT; while that isn’t the most important factor, it still is great to have a good-sounding bat. So, performance-wise, the LXT is still at the top of the game, up there with the best of the best, and is not the most popular fastpitch bat for no reason.
Design
Louisville Slugger has gone for a more striking design this year; the dominant black color with the sharp and fiery LXT logo will make you feel like a dragon that spits flame from the moment you lay your hands on this beauty.
It is definitely one of the nicest looking bats that we’ve seen and the designers over at Louisville Slugger have done an extraordinary job with the new LXT. It’s hard not to be a huge fan of this design and colorway, as it will strike fear into your opponents from the moment they see the 2022 Louisville Slugger LXT.
