Probably the most famous bat in the fastpitch world for players who prefer a stiffer feel, the Louisville Slugger Xeno is back and updated for the new, 2022 season. And, wow, what a good-looking bat the new Xeno is.
But, did anything change on the inside as it did on the outside of the 2022 Xeno? Will it still be one of the power hitter’s favorite bats?
Let’s jump in and find out.
Features and construction
Compared to the 2021 Louisville Slugger Xeno, construction-wise, not a lot of things have changed. The Xeno still sports a two-piece composite construction which is not a surprise. The barrel that the Xeno has is the Dual-Disc S1ID Barrel which is found only on the Xeno. Last year’s model had the same barrel, and we will later explain what it is that makes it so great.
What gives the Xeno the stiff feel that makes it known throughout the softball world? It’s the great IST technology that makes the Xeno a stronger player’s favorite fastpitch bat. The IST technology also works to eliminate the vibrations that can be felt on mishits.
The one-piece that kind of connects it all together must be the end-cap, and in Xeno’s case, it’s the very lightweight end cap that has the X-Cap design. It’s engineered to help in getting a more stiffer feel and also in improving the overall performance of the bat, like getting more from the energy transfer.
The 2022 Louisville Slugger Xeno comes in -8, -9, -10, -11 weight drops, same as the last year’s model.

Performance
The stiff feel that made the Xeno so great is still there, and a new version is still a fantastic option for power hitters and stronger players. Even though there are no new, special features found on the 2022 Xeno, that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad bat, in the slightest.
Two things make the Xeno a great, high-performance fastpitch bat. The first is that it takes very little to no break-in time, unlike many other bats that you can get your hands on. Secondly, it can be used by amateurs and recreational players to professionals. In many cases, you can see high-performance bats that are not recommended for inexperienced players, but that isn’t the case with the Xeno. On, and also, the sound it makes when you connect is like lightning. Very loud and recognizable.
Design
The new Xeno has purple colors like the previous model but they are not that expressed. They are more kind of a supportive color, as this year’s Xeno has a dominant grey color. Those two colors truly go great together, and the yellow Xeno logo just pops. Overall, we are quite pleased with the looks, and it’s one of the nicer-looking fastpitch bats out there.

Rating and conclusion
All the pieces of technology that the 2022 Louisville Slugger Xeno has work truly amazing together in creating a stiff bat that is justifiably one of the favorites of power hitters from all levels of expertise. Even without the new features, it’s still safe to say that the Louisville Slugger Xeno is an amazing fastpitch bat, and a highly recommended one.
